Women's Refuges and Support for Domestic Abuse Survivors

Last year I co-chaired a Joint Select Committee inquiry into the Future of Supported Housing. The government's response to that inquiry adopted almost all of our recommendations, but made no particular commitment to our specific recommendation on Women's Refuges.

We can now see with last week’s announcement on a consultation on all aspects of domestic abuse that accommodation will be covered by changes or legislation that will no doubt follow (see: https://www.gov.uk/…/consu…/domestic-abuse-bill-consultation).

Given the changing landscape of support for survivors of domestic abuse, I wanted clarity from the Prime Minister and so I asked her:
