By 2019, I did not believe that we had the rail services to Bristol that my constituents needed.
So I pledged an additional every 30 minute train from Gloucester to Bristol.
While travel habits changed during and after the pandemic, GWR and the Department for Transport agreed with me that these services were needed and they started in May 2023, adding 174 services a week.
The additional Bristol to Gloucester services also continues to Worcester, giving us more capacity to the east as well as the west, and an extra Sunday service to Weymouth.
This pledge has required several years working closely with GWR, Network Rail and the Department for Transport and I am delighted that changes have been made and my pledge delivered.
