Futures Fair

On Friday 23rd February between 09:30 and 14:30 I’m hosting a Futures Fair with Gloucestershire County Council, DWP and 50 local organisations at Gloucester Guildhall.

Here's all the things you might need to know in advance:

What if I’m are looking for a job now?

Good news!

Over 50 companies including the NHS, Gloucester Rugby, Gloucester Food Dock, Renishaw, Hartpury and Gloucestershire Colleges and BAE Systems are attending, with some actively hiring and interviewing on the day.

There will also be interview and CV advice and support available, ensuring accessibility for all those seeking out job opportunities.

What if I’m not quite ready to find a job?

That’s completely fine!

The Futures Fair will host many support services which will provide advice and guidance on any concerns you have about entering or re-entering the job market.

This includes services offering educational and skills support, online job searching, adult employment advice and much more.

Groups including GlosJobs, the National Careers Service, Skillzone and many more are on hand to answer any specific concerns you may have: next steps, career pathways, further information, they are here to help you through the journey of finding the right opportunity!

I’m looking for some advice?

Yes we are offering that too!

It’s not just career advice on offer (although there will be a lot on that), but also advice on financial concerns, childcare, energy and travel support and more.

Services including Allsorts, Job Smart, CleanSlate, SeverneWye Energy and more are all on hand to provide assistance and help.

What about if I need extra assistance?

We’re an inclusive event open to all!

This event is all about breaking down the barriers to work, so we are offering a quieter hour between 9:30am and 10:30am. Those with disabilities are being provided with a safe space to feel comfortable and to seek the help they are looking for – this is accompanied by a British Sign Language (BSL) translator during this hour.

We also want to support Gloucester’s diverse community, so we are providing Ukrainian translators throughout the day to ensure accessibility for Ukrainians with limited English in connecting with the right businesses or services.

I’m a service provider, is this event right for me?

Absolutely!

If you are looking to build connections within our community in Gloucester, this high-profile event is perfect for you.

We want this event to help you to support the people you are looking out for - with attendees from all over the city and over 50 businesses and services, there is no better event to reach out, build your network and offer your services to a wide range people.

Still unsure?

If you have any more specific questions about the day and how it will be suitable for you or the people you represent, please email employers@gloucestershire.gov.uk or david.werrett@dwp.gov.uk.
